2016 Honda Pilot vs. 2015 Honda Pilot
Honda’s rear panel teaser image of the new 2016 Honda Pilot was evidence enough that the third generation SUV will be much sleeker than the outgoing model. Whether shedding the truck-like image is good or not, the new design is now comparable to Honda’s design language, easily fitting in with the CR-V and all-new HR-V. At quick glance, it may be difficult to tell the trio apart, unless you’re looking at them side by side by side.
Some may argue that while the sharp, square shape stood out in the crowd the new Pilot will blend in with the rest of the competition. The recessed rear panel even looks like that of the Chevrolet Traverse, the Pilot’s big competitor, although Honda will say it’s more comparable to the Honda Odyssey. Regardless, the new Pilot is here to stay, and will continue to be a threat in the full-sized SUV segment.
It’s interesting to note that while the new Pilot sheds the square silhouette, the redesigned Ford Explorer has gone from a sleek SUV to a more truck-like design. It will be interesting to see how each does in the sales department.
