2016 Ford Explorer vs. 2015 Ford Explorer
2016 Ford Explorer Gets Lifted in The Front and Rear
The 2016 Ford Explorer goes back to its truck roots with an exterior redesign that looks more like a tough workhorse than the smooth and fluid lines of the outgoing SUV. The overall silhouette of the new Explorer remains the same and only the front and rear fascia have received a refresh. The rear tail lights look similar to the outgoing ones but fit well with the redesigned tailgate. The front has been redone the most with all new components. Like the exterior the inside stays relatively the same. The dashboard and instrument panel have been tweaked for better ergonomics.
The outgoing model has been around since 2011 so it would have been nice to see a more dynamic redesign, especially since the Explorer turns 25 in 2016.
