Almost all iterations of the Cadillac crest have included the shield, the wreath, and the crown. The shield, being the most prominent element on the Cadillac logo, has always appeared in combination with either the wreath or the crown if not both. The last time all three appeared on the crest was between 1982 and 1999 before Cadillac dropped the crown leaving only the shield and wreath. After 14 years together the wreath has been removed giving the shield all the glory.

The new crest is “lower, longer, leaner”, which matches the mantra of Cadillac’s current design, according to a press release. Cadillac first showed off the logo on the Elmiraj Concept, and will put them on all 2015 models starting with the 2015 Cadillac ATS Coupe.
