Ford Focus Hatchback History
Ford Focus debuted in 1998 as a hatchback and sedan replacing the Ford Escort in North America. Being almost identical to the European version it was a hit, winning the 1999 Car of the Year award. Unfortunately, the hatchback was dropped for 2008 in favour of a two door coupe that was completely different from the European version. Luckily Ford’s global car platform brought back the hatchback in 2012, which is available world-wide.
