2016 Scion iA vs. 2016 Mazda2 Sedan
The new 2016 Scion iA doesn’t try to hide the fact that it’s essentially a rebadged Mazda2 Sedan. Aside from a different grill everything else about the iA screams Mazda2. It’s literally impossible to distinguish the two when looking at the sedan from the side. Scion made no effort to differentiate itself from Mazda in the rear either. Unique tail lights and a tweaked bumper would have made a difference but right now, take the badges off the trunk and you’re driving behind a Mazda2. The interior layout of the instrument cluster is the same, with small changes to knobs and buttons. And of course, Scion won’t have MazdaConnect.
The only saving grace for the iA is that the Mazda2 sedan will not be offered in North America. If it were, scion would have a hard time selling a rebadged Mazda. A Mazda2 hatchback will be offered only, leaving the sedan to Scion in the USA and Toyota north of the border (The iA will be a Yaris sedan in Canada).
