Toyota Tacoma Generations Through the Years

1st generation - 1995

The Toyota Tacoma pickup truck debuted in the US market in 1995 to replace the Hilux model. When developing the car, special attention was paid to non-cargo "ability," comfort, " and handling.

Tacoma was equipped with 2.4 and 2.7 liters (144 and 152 hp, respectively) and a 193-liter V6 3.4 engine. The gearbox could be manual or automatic, and the drive could be a rear or all-wheel drive.

The pickup was in good demand among American buyers, and, having survived two restyling in 1998 and 2001, it stayed on the assembly line until 2004, when the model generation changed.

2nd generation - 2004

The Toyota Tacoma midsize pickup truck is only sold in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. One of two gasoline engines is offered for the car: a four-cylinder 2.7-liter (159 hp) or a four-cylinder V-shaped “six” with a capacity of 236 liters. Tacoma buyers have a wide choice: manual or automatic transmission, rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, three cab options, and two body length options.

The most expensive modification of a pickup truck is the Toyota Tacoma X-Runner with a V6 engine, a six-speed “mechanics”, rear-wheel drive, a suspension lowered by 5 cm, and an external body kit.

The second-generation Toyota Tacoma has been produced since 2004 at factories in Mexico and the United States. In 2011, the model was restyled together with Toyota Venza.

Restylin - 2011

After restyling in 2011, the model received a new bumper with a trapezoidal bend, in which a spoiler with two plastic "blades" and a powerful "lip" was installed. The side niches in the bumper have also changed - they have become cone-shaped. The hood has become more pronounced relief, and the headlights have become more compact, with a noticeable protrusion that cuts into the side edges of the grille.

The restyled model features more refined wheel arches. The car's stern remained unchanged: compact, vertically arranged rear lights, chrome bumper.

The second-generation Tacoma is available in three body modifications Regular Cab (2794 mm wheelbase), Access Cab (3246 mm wheelbase), and Double Cab (3579 mm wheelbase).

These modifications have different dimensions. Regular Cab/ Access Cab/ Double Cab length - 4836/5286/5621 mm. The width and length of the body vary depending on which platform, rear- or all-wheel drive the car is built on. The car is available in 18 different configurations - both pure passenger and specialized cargo.

Toyota Tacoma - List of Damages

One of the greatest joys of a driver is to repair his own Toyota Tacoma. Of course, no one enjoys a breakdown, but there are enthusiasts who prefer to replace their consumables in their own garage, even if it means getting dirty with oil.

The Toyota Tacoma engine breaks down often and a solenoid, which, depending on the position of the contact, pushes the gear to engage the crankshaft. This solenoid breaks down also quite often. The first sign that something is wrong is the noise after starting the engine. If you hear this noise, it is advisable to go to an authorized service center as soon as possible.

But how to pay for car repairs, when you don’t want to do it by yourself, or don’t have enough money? The solution to this problem is here. These drivers are very careful when buying a new car, and the models that have the engine "hidden" in a capsule do not attract them because they will need more money to cover the repairs.
