Mitsubishi and Nissan have introduced ultra cheap cars to North America but only Canada is lucky enough to have a choice between the Mitsubishi Mirage and the Nissan Micra. The Micra isn’t available south of the border so the Mirage is reaping all the benefits, and profits, without having to deal with competition in the sub subcompact car segment.

If these names sound familiar it’s because they’ve been around for decades in other countries. The Micra badge returns to North America after a 24 year hiatus. It has been a popular seller in Europe and Asia since 1989.

The first generation Mirage was produced in 1978 but was sold as the Dodge Colt among others in North America. This is the first Mitsubishi with the Mirage nameplate to land in North America.

Here is the 2014 Mitsubishi Mirage compared to the 2015 Nissan Micra.
